2006 Update - The wheels are in
motion |
|

 |
With 2006 now in full swing we thought we would bring you upto date with
current progress on the Hybrid programme. The car is nearing completion and
a test schedule is planned. We will firstly visit Donington Park for a
shakedown early in March before heading off to Magny Cours and Paul Ricard
circuits in France for several days developing the car.
So far we are extremely happy with the way the car and many of its composite
parts are taking shape. Recently (see other news story) we carried out the
new Judd engine fitment and that was a success.
There's still plenty to achieve before that first test day but the team are
very optimistic.

CA06-H-001 .. Pictures of V10
Installation |
|

 |
Creation are moving at a pace on the Hybrid conversion which is now
officially called the CA06-H-001. The Judd V10 installation is
complete with the car now on the surface plate at KS Composites having the
floors and new bodywork fitted.
Stable Fabrications are manufacturing the new suspension and first test for
the car will be on the "shaker" rig in February. After that, 4 days testing
in Europe and off to Sebring.
Ian Bickerton said:
" we originally thought the Hybrid would look very similar to the original
Reynard car. The more and more i see what the designers have schemed out and
produced, the more i know its going to look very different. The Judd engine
was no big design problem to fit. The new bell housing/oil tank looks the
business. A bit heavier but a lot stiffer. We can afford to put the weight
on anyway. KWM have just released the CAD for the new rear wing and tail
which is the final piece to be drawn. I must be getting old. I have not seen
a single drawing yet! Its all computers, not a single piece of paper. Looks
like the days of the "fag packet" sketched race car is over! "

Deletraz, 42, who this year has been driving a Ferrari 575 in the FIA GT
Championship, recently tested Creation's DBA-04S Judd at Donington and
proved himself just as competitive as both Nicolas Minassian and Jamie
Campbell-Walter. Team Principal, Ian Bickerton, is therefore very upbeat

Testing at Donington |
|
 |
The Creation Autosportif team made an early start to its winter testing
programme yesterday at a damp and misty Donington.
Starting things off in a low-key, minimal fuss kind of way was the
fulfilment of a long term promise to an old racing friend, Jean-Denis
Deletraz.
The highly experienced Swiss GT driver got his first laps in the Judd
engined DBA-04S once Creation regular Nicolas Minassian had completed a
number of installation laps.

Creation – Nurburgring Reflections |
|
 |
Now that the team is back from Germany, and time (plus a few beers) has
dulled the pain of losing the race, Team Principal Ian “Bicks” Bickerton has
had a chance to reflect on what happened to Creation at the Nurburgring.
“Basically, we made a bit of a hash of it. Creation always gives Nic and JC-W
a good race car, even if the pole position is not always achievable.

|
 |
Nicolas Minassian eclipsed the competition in qualifying today for the 1000
kms of Silverstone with a lap time that was almost two seconds quicker than
his nearest rival.
His time of 1m 34.562 was his third flying lap in a row and any one of the

LMES Silverstone - Friday |
|
 |
There were four hours of practice here at Silverstone today, one of which
was held at night as the 1000 Km race starts at 4pm and is due to run into
the hours of darkness.
Creation had a good day, topping the time sheets in two sessions and
finishing a close second in the others. Ian Bickerton was
uncharacteristically short of words - but for all the right reasons. "It was
a fantastic day, it couldn't have gone better. Don't know what else to say
really - everything went so well! Let's hope it's the same in qualifying and
the race."
A 20 minute qualifying session Saturday morning will be followed by the race
- 1000 kilometres or 6 hours, depending on which is completed first.
More to follow as it happens...
