Laguna Podium Is a Perfect Way To Finish |
An action-packed four hours of racing, four full course caution periods, accidents and incidents, spins aplenty. The popular Creation team came through it all to take third place in the final round of the 2006 American Le Mans Series at Laguna Seca, just 29 seconds behind the Championship winning Audi Sport of North America cars. The team was as delighted with the result as if it had won, and it was a fitting way for the British privateer team to round off its 2006 season, even if that much desired victory has to now wait until 2007. Minassian aiming for Victory from Front Row Start |
It was an achingly close, finger nails bitten to the quick, heart-in-the-mouth qualifying session for the Creation team, and it ended up with the Creation CA06/H-Judd just one tenth of a second away from pole position. Nicolas Minassian gave it absolutely everything he could – lap after lap - but a fuel pressure problem and an errant competitor meant his best time of 1:13.838 was just not quite enough to match that of Stefan Johansson’s Zytek. Laguna Seca News and Views From Creation |
Each time the Creation Autosportif team visits the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, it is special in the eyes of the team’s co-founder, Mike Jankowski, as it marks a homecoming for the Californian entrepreneur. Raised in San Diego, in 2004 Jankowski made his dream come true to bring his team to his home state and he is confident that this year the “Blue Rocket”, the Creation-Judd prototype, will be perfectly suited to the challenges of the 2.238 mile track and is a potential race winner. Creation a Hit in ALMS Plus photos from PLM |
We were overwhelmed by countless well-wishers before, during and since Petit Le Mans, and the emails and calls keep coming in as we race towards this weekend's Laguna Seca ALMS finale. It seems the fans here have been deprived of any real competition for the Audi R10's and our presence as a true challenger has been a welcome resolve as the season draws to a close. We met these enthusiastic guys (see photo) at Road Atlanta - Team Impala-Drinking for Holland. Team members 'Anymonkey Willdeau',' Mike Carr' and Owner/driver 'Amazing Randy', based at Sebring's infamous Turn 10, put their support behind the Blue Rocket squad. Thanks to all who have been in touch during our ALMS campaign. View this and other photos from PLM here |

28 Seconds Away From A Petit Le Mans Podium |
The Creation team fought hard, recovered from technical and physical set backs and challenged for a podium position for about 85% of the race. But, with just over an hour to go in the 1,000 mile Petit Le Mans race, the Road Atlanta track caught them out. The driving team of Jamie Campbell-Walter (GB), Nicolas Minassian (F) and Harold Primat (CH) finished in fourth place behind the winning Audi of McNish and Capello, the Zytek and Highcroft Racing’s Lola. Creation on pole for Petit Le Mans + 1st Pictures |
Nicolas Minassian, driving a Creation CA06/H race car, showed he meant business today by claiming a stunning pole position for tomorrow’s 1,000 mile Petit Le Mans event. The Frenchman beat the all-conquering Audi R10 of Allan McNish by less than one tenth of a second in an entertaining qualifying session, and the sound of loud cheering was heard amongst the spectactors around the track when Minassian’s time was confirmed. Creation’s International Entry At Petit Le Mans |
Bicester, England. The entry list is out and the British Creation team’s driver line up of Jamie Campbell-Walter (GB), Nicolas Minassian (F) and Harold Primat (CH) can be fully publicised. Team Principal, Ian Bickerton, is very much looking forward to returning to race in North America, and is very happy with the outcome of his driver selection process. “Nic was always going to head up our driver line up, of course, but there were a number of options open to us for the other places. Harold tested for us in Istanbul at the end of last November and did really well, and we’ve been trying to find a way to work together since, so the final two races of the ALMS are perfectly timed from our point of view. Jamie did a solid job for us at Le Mans this year, and drove superbly at Donington a month ago when we fielded our new, second car so he’s earned his place on merit. Read the press release here |
